--Nothingserious (talk) 15:49, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I cannot help: I had to take that photo on a long trip, since I live 450km away from the plant. Nyttend (talk) 20:55, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

... "is very small, unfixably too light/dark, or may not adequately illustrate the subject of the picture."? Really? Which one of those? Looks fine to me. --GRuban (talk) 19:50, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

@GRuban: Artifacts from compression by YouTube. In German Wikipedia the default thumbnail size is bigger, so it's more visible.--Kopiersperre (talk) 19:53, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
Artifacts meaning grainy? Visible pixels? Then you probably don't want to use the template you did as it doesn't say that, it says what I quoted. --GRuban (talk) 20:42, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
@GRuban: Then I will take the Template:Blurry, because due to the compression algorithm no clear focal point is visible. Most YouTube-Videos have the effect, that the sharpness is gone. I wouldn't import anything from videos.--Kopiersperre (talk) 21:03, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
I can accept blurry. I don't see this picture as sufficiently blurry not to be valuable, but I can certainly see a less blurry one would be better. Then again, I'm nearsighted, so slightly blurry is pretty much what the world looks like to me normally. :-) --GRuban (talk) 00:45, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

File:Motor vehicle deaths in the US.svg[edit]

Laut en:List of motor vehicle deaths in U.S. by year war der Wert aber 10390. --Slomox (talk) 07:57, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

@Slomox: Ist korrigiert. Unglaublich, dass du diesen Fehler gefunden hast.--Kopiersperre (talk) 09:26, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Outdoor fireplaces[edit]

File:Mexican chimenea at Anita's in Bothell, WA 01.jpg‎, File:Mexican chimenea at Anita's in Bothell, WA 02.jpg‎, File:Mexican chimenea at Anita's in Bothell, WA 03.jpg‎: how are these not outdoor fireplaces? One of them (the first) even has a fire lit in it! - Jmabel ! talk 02:14, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

@Jmabel: They are transportable fireplaces and no permanent structures. I've thought, that they would be misplaced in the category, but I generally had difficulties defining it.
What's the proper english word for a "constructionless" outdoor fireplace (just ash from the last burn, in some cases with stones)?--Kopiersperre (talk) 20:28, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Good question. The most common terms I can think of are "fire pit" (not necessarily complete constructionless, because it can be lined, but it can just be a dirt pit or "fire site" or "campfire site" (where there isn't even necessarily a pit). But the chimenea (Spanish-language term) would definitely be an "outdoor fireplace". For what it's worth, there may be some regional differences, but I'm originally from New York, my girlfriend is from California; I showed her the picture without preamble, asked what she'd call it, and she said "portable outdoor fireplace." Maybe that should be a subcat? But it's still an outdoor fireplace. - Jmabel ! talk 20:41, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
@Jmabel: Ok, I will separate Category:Campfire sites and Category:Chimenea. Badly there is already a place called Chimeneas. Is my solution valid or should it be done with brackets? By the way: The picture in article en:Chimenea was in Category:Heating stoves.--Kopiersperre (talk) 21:07, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
At least preserving distinctions is useful, and allows names to be sorted out later. - Jmabel ! talk 23:54, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

The Fiji banded iguana (Brachylophus fasciatus) is an arboreal species of lizard endemic to some of the southeastern Fijian islands. It is found in Tonga, where it was probably introduced by humans.[1] It is one of the few species of iguanas found outside of the New World and one of the most geographically isolated members of the family Iguanidae.[2] Populations of these iguanas have been declining over the past century due to habitat destruction, and more significantly, the introduction of mongoose and house cats to the islands.[2] The species is diurnal, spending their days foraging, basking and watching over their territories by day and retreating to the treetops at night. Fiji iguanas are considered a national treasure by the government of Fiji, and its likeness has been featured on postage stamps, currency, and phone book covers.

Hello,

I am unable to translate Eisenschwamm in two different manners. The german wiki seems to aggregate the DRI or Direct Reduced Iron, with the Luppe. The discussion page of Eisenschwamm seems to point out some problems.

Of course, it is not a mistake to aggregate these two concepts. But Luppe is produced in a Rennofen, DRI is made in modern processes, like Midrex. And there are many way to sell the DRI : in powder (raw DRI), hot-briquetted (HBI) or in reduced stones of ore (sponge iron).

Are you able to give 2 differents german words, one for Sponge iron and the other one for the Direct Reduced Iron ? Borvan53 (talk) 22:26, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

@Borvan53: I'm sorry, in German we just have one word for it.--Kopiersperre (talk) 00:14, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

Re: Chemical structures[edit]

Hi Kopiersperre,

I know but I'm not so good about the creation of SVG chemical structures. I think the time has come to learn how to create these images so I hope to improve my skills about SVG creation in the future. Have a really nice day. Jacopo Werther iγ∂ψ=mψ 08:55, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

User:Panoramio upload bot[edit]

Hi Shizhao,

sadly Panoramio is now gone, but apparently your bot has still a backlog of files to import. On the other hand it would be a great chance to begin categorizing the 400.731 mostly uncategorized files. Do you have a more detailed statistics, how many of these files have categories?--Kopiersperre (talk) 10:55, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

The backlog of files from Panoramio about 260M, see toollabs:pub. Now bot can auto categories (photo tags from Panoramio), and photo tags and geoinfo save to image page, help to check the categories, for example File:Foggy Lake - panoramio.jpg, File:Pontic Mountains, Yedigöller - panoramio.jpg. --shizhao (talk) 15:08, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
@Shizhao: I've moved discussion here. Are you sure to upload 2,8 million photos? I've discovered several times useful pictures from mass imports, so I'm no a general critic, but do you acknowledge the problem, that bots (e.g. Flickr import, Open Access media importer) tend to fill – and overflow – meta categories? Many categories went useless due to bot flooding.
IMHO the Foggy Lake picture should be deleted, because the name, location, anything is missing.--Kopiersperre (talk) 15:29, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
bot no tag meta categories, the problem fixed. If tag there, plese tell me, thi is a bug....--shizhao (talk) 19:34, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

Chem. Formeln[edit]

{{Information field|Name=SVG{{I18n/COA|development}}|Value={{Created with ChemDraw|errors=0|vstyle=float:left}} {{TextSVG-s|s=sf}}}}

File:Global Temperature Anomaly.svg[edit]

Hi. I have updated this important graph with the latest data. Thank you for translating its legends and captions recently. Unfortunately, in order to comply with the new NASA data, I have had to alter one of the legends. Therefore, a translation update now needed for the legend 'Lowess Smoothing (5-year)' in one of the switch statements. I hope you can look at this soon (or help me find someone who can), as it is displaying incorrectly in several languages at the moment. Thanks and best wishes, Nigelj (talk) 12:29, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

Your VFC installation method is deprecated[edit]

Hello Kopiersperre, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Thanks! --VFC devs (q) 16:23, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

File:Dieselpreise.svg[edit]

2. Was bedeutet "1995=100"? 3. Was ist die Quelle für die Daten? --TheRunnerUp (talk) 09:07, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

File:Serum protein electrophoresis normal and paraprotein.svg[edit]

With respect to a fellow category worker, but can you explain why do you deem the word “Albumin” German, but not English, Scandinavian, Hungarian, or Slavic? Do you really think that language-specific categorization of pictures with mostly international Latin-derived vocabulary in labels (which has tiny spelling variations across Latin-alphabet languages) makes sense? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 13:33, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

@Incnis Mrsi: You are right, it doesn't make much sense. Because the file is only used in German Wikipedia and was translated by a German I've placed it into the German category.--Kopiersperre (talk) 14:16, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
Some unexpected follow-up here. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 18:39, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
@Incnis Mrsi: Until now we have – as you know – just a dualism of diagrams (any symbolic representation of information) and charts (anything with an axis).--Kopiersperre (talk) 08:15, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
